I knew whenever and wherever my niece Stephanie’s wedding vows were recited, I would be witness of my 80-plus nephews & nieces (greats included) and I love them all. She is my youngest brothers’ daughter and that made her my little princess. I was looking forward to a wonderful time with family, friends, new in-laws and the wedding celebration.
What I was treated to was a magical weekend at “The Retreat at Balcones Springs.” The atmosphere from the time I arrived was inviting, relaxing and of course beautiful. The staff was exceptional, warm, friendly, and accommodating and I marveled that they seemed to enjoy each task at hand like they were having as much fun as the guests. It felt like a family gathering where everyone pitched in to make it perfect. And the food, Oh my gosh, was off the charts on the yummy side! It does not get any better.
The momentous occasion and venue will leave me with very fond memories.
From the Heart,
In October I had my wedding at The Retreat at Balcones Springs. It was the most unbelievable and perfectly executed weekend. The director (Christine Baskin) and the wedding coordinator (Caitlyn Ryan) were amazing and helped with every need we had. From the bartenders, to the wedding day “bride attendant” (Maggie) they all made our family feel like royalty.
Each room was very clean and immaculately designed. When one of the guests had difficulty with their heat the camp had someone in the room to fix it within the hour. The camp answered every question and even helped us with rentals (to match their chairs), we had a food tasting session to taste the food (which is also out of this world), and then we had several walk throughs. I could not imagine a more magical place to have a wedding and such a wonderful staff to execute it so flawlessly. I wish we could do it all again at the Retreat at Balcones!
This is without a doubt one of the finest locations in Texas. I have been to this venue multiple times for different purposes. Twice I have stayed here with family for Thanksgiving. I have attended daddy/daughter weekends while my wife has attended mother/son weekends. We have invited numerous friends who have all been delighted by the location, the courteous staff, the amazing food and an endless stream of activities. I have met many wonderful families and people here. I sent my daughter to camp here because it was the only place that I truly felt would lookout for and care for my child. I was not disappointed. This beautiful place is to be enjoyed and savored.
My review is based on multiple experiences throughout the last two years. Here are some of the things that I have enjoyed here: great food, horseback riding, zip line, camp fires, canoeing, hiking, crafts, tennis, basketball, volleyball, pool, cards, watching football games, board games, meeting really fine new friends, sleeping late, rising early to catch the sunrise, dancing with my daughter, throwing tomahawks, making bracelets, archery, yoga, rifelry, and massages.
This place has become a family tradition for us. Some people say they want to go to the country and then complain about the heat, humidity or rain. I find that I gravitate to honest people who minimize the complaining and enjoy life. If you want the richest place in Texas hospitality that I can think of, this is it.
You owe it to yourself to investigate this property and their staff, you will not be disappointed. I am so happy that we found this place and it is my earnest hope that you will consider my 5 star recommendation.
